Rock and a Prayer Men’s Group

Rock and a Prayer meets the 2nd Monday of the month in the Parish House from 6:30-8:30 pm.

The intention of the group is to gather in a safe, non-judgmental and sacred space; to share in a  trusting honest fellowship; to build on our faith, reaching outward from an inward journey and to grow spiritually and personally while harvesting a bond amongst each other and within the church community.  Time together includes prayer and reflection/discussion around various topics. For more information contact Mike Gelsomini gelso15@yahoo.com.

 Prayer Shawl Knitters

The second Thursday of the month knitters meet to knit, chat, laugh and pray at Marion Main’s home.  The group makes and blesses prayer shawls which are given to folks when they are sick, baptized, joining the church.  There are many able teachers if you don’t know how to knit.  Can’t make that time?  Get a pattern and yarn and knit in your own home.

 Steppe up In

Warmly and well dressed people find clothing and fun housewares at our Steppe Up In Shoppe.  This outreach to the community happens with lots of volunteer time.  Shop keepers work Wednesdays from 3-6 and Saturday from 9-noon.  Sorters sift through donations on Tuesday mornings from 8:30-11 ish.  Nancy Noseworthy can tell you more and Nancy Knapp will sign you up for a shift during opening hours.

Pettengill Saturday Night Meal

One Saturday a month we join energy with the Central Congregational Church and other local volunteers to deliver home cooked meals to individuals and families in the area.  Dinner guests are signed up through the Pettingill House.  Our team makes casseroles, provide milk, assembles salads, breads, desserts and deliver the meals.  Jane Church can give you recipes and any information you need j.ansaldo@comcast.net .

Camp Sunshine

Volunteering at this camp for children with life threatening diseases and their families has become a regular part of many summers.  Kitchen workers, camp counselors, arts and crafts, waterfront staff – there are many ways to make a difference.  More information about Camp Sunshine can be found on their web site www.campsunshine.org.  Bonnie Wilson is our coordinator for this wonderful outreach program.

 Adult Faith Formation

Sunday evenings find adults in all different stages of learning gathering in the Webster Room for a time of spiritual and faith growth.  Courses of study have included such things as “Waiting and Watching – An Advent Study”; “The Heart of Christianity”; “Living the Questions”.  PhD’s in biblical studies are not required.  To learn about the current offering or request a topic of study contact Rev. Joan at 978.388.0982 – joan.macpherson@main-street-church.org.

Wednesday Bible Study

11-noon each week we get together in the Parish House to read the bible passages for Sunday.  This is a time to hear ancient, life changing words – ask questions, let them penetrate our hearts and consider how God is speaking to and calling each of us.  No prior experience needed.  If you have questions please feel free to contact  our Pastor with questions at joan.macpherson@main-street-church.org.
