Pettingel House Monthly Meals
April 10th Hamburger Casserole -Recipe Below:
HAMBURGER.CASSEROLE from Diane’s mom serves 6
So double or triple for a large pan!
1 to 1 1/2 Ib hamburger
1 onion chopped fine (or equiv. diced frozen onion)
1 pkg noodles
1 can each cream of Tomato soup,cream of mushroom
l pkg frozen peas
1 tbs sherry (optional)
approx 1/4 C dry breadcrumbs (optional)
_approx 1/2 C shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
Brown hamburger &~onion'together in
large fry pan. Pour off excess fat.
Meanwhile, boil noodles as directed
on pkg. and drain them. Parboil peas (meaning
cook till half done, & you can accomplish this by adding
the peas to the boiling noodles for last 3 min) .
Combine noodles, meat, onion, peas in large mixing
bowl. Add both soups,UNDILUTED, sherry, salt, pepper
to taste. For EXOTIC
flavor, add 1/2 tsp curry powder, more if you like curry.
Turn into greased casserole, 1 1/2 qt. size. Bake uncovered
in 350 oven for 30 min.
20 min. before it's done, sprinkle cheese, breadcrumbs
on casserole. (Top with small dabs of butter, which melt
& cause crumbs to brown. OR dribble a mixture of crumbs
& melted butter over the top).
